The Cheese People are a curd collective of funky people who love getting up early and the challenges of the elements to bring their favourite local cheeses out to you dear reader, at your favourite farmers market.

ParmaJon and his magnificent wife Sweet Crème Sarah are the big cheeses, and The Mice are their young family, future cheesemongers every last one of them.

ParmaJon began slinging curds at Chicago area markets in 1995 and he and his bride founded The Cheese People in 2002 in the hopes to continue on the great traditions Jon inherited from long time area cheesemonger, Omer Reese.

Our family, friends, and friends of friends are our cheesemongers – many of them students, teachers, and/or artists that dig having a seasonal gig to come back to and one that allows them to nibble freely. It is a very nourishing environment, both within and without and that is perhaps what we're proudest of. Sweet Creme Sarah's sister Judith and brother in law Darren are behind our markets in the Beloit and Rockford areas whilst our good friend James runs our Quincy, IL markets & is behind our occasional foray into St Louis territories.

Bringing our favourite cheeses to local farmers markets is our vocation. We're blessed to be able to work with so many wonderful producers that have expanded our knowledge as to how beautiful milk can be when spoiled in a loving way.
